What is the EN8 Forging Shaft?

The medium tensile strength of essential steel makes it suitable for components such as plain, gib head, taper, and parallel keys. Tolerances for essential steel are specified in British Standard BS46 and BS4235. Spring steels EN42, CS70, CS80, CS95, and CS100 are available in hardened and tempered spring steel strips, annealed spring steel strips, spring steel plates, and spring steel sheets. Shafts and plates of EN43 spring steel are available. X120Mn12 1.3401 is a manganese steel with 1%  steel and 11% to 14% manganese content. It conforms to BS970, BS1449, BS EN10083-1, BS EN10083-2, BS EN 10277, and BS EN 10278 standards. High manganese steel is available in full plates or cuts to your specifications and offers excellent work-hardening properties.

Working and Heat Treatment:

  • Forging within the temperature range of 1100⁰/850⁰ Celsius
  • After reaching 7600 Celsius, anneal at that temperature for four hours, then soak for four hours
  • Normalizing is not applicable
  • A temperature of 8200/850 Celsius is used for oil quenching after soaking.
