As a result of the air preheater recovering heat from the boiler flue gas, the boiler becomes more efficient by minimising the amount of usable heat lost in the flue gas. Shell and tube heat exchangers (Air Preheater Tubes) preheat air before it enters the boiler or furnaces/kilns for fuel combustion. 

As well as complying with tensile strength, yield strength, hardness, and elongation requirements, the Air Preheater extracts waste heat from the flue gases leaving the boiler.

Air Preheater Tubes Advantages

(1) Increasing the furnace gases’ temperature improves combustion rates and efficiency.

(2) The air preheater lowers the stack temperature by extracting heat from the flue gases, which maximizes boiler efficiency. Studies have shown that a drop of 20-22 C in the flue gases temperature could result in a 1% increase in boiler efficiency.

(3) Preheating the fuel can burn poor fuel grades without removing excess air from the combustion chamber.

(4) Increasing steam generation capacity per unit of boiler surface increases steam generation capacity.

(5) The plant has saved fuel. The plant’s thermal efficiency has been increased

(6). Using hot air in the combustion of pulverized coal can facilitate the drying of coal, transporting crushed coal to burners, and accelerating the explosion.

 

Working of Air Preheater Tubes

As in the case of air preheaters with shell and tube architecture, the exhaust heat from the flue gases is transferred to the air. This is when they are brought into direct contact with one another or when they come into indirect contact with the air.

An air preheater consists of a shell with tubes arranged in a square or triangular configuration. It is welded to a tube plate. Depending upon the type of operation and ease of cleaning, flue gases and air can be discharged either from the shell side of the system or from the tube side.

To increase the efficiency of air preheaters made by Thermodyne Boilers, finned tube air preheaters are made with an increased heating surface area without a larger size.

Depending on the situation, our Air Preheaters are built in either a single-pass design or a double-pass design for both flue gases and air to receive the most heat from the flue gases.

Working Of APH Tubes

When flue gases come into indirect contact with the air in an air preheater, which has a shell-and-tube design, the exhaust heat from the flue gases is transferred to the air as soon as they come into indirect contact.

The air preheater consists of a shell with various tubes arranged in a square or triangular configuration and welded to a tube plate. Pipestyles are different depending on the type of operation and the ease of cleaning, so flue gases may either enter the shell side or air may join the tube side.

APHs (APHs) are Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers designed to heat the air before it is introduced into the boilers or furnaces/kilns to burn the fuel. The primary function of an APH is to take heat from the flue gases that come from the boilers.

By reducing the amount of usable heat lost in the flue gas, the APH increases the boiler’s thermal efficiency by recovering heat from the flue gas. For the combustion of fuel, shell, and tube heat exchangers known as APHs (APH) are used to pre-heat the air supplied to boilers, furnaces, and kilns.

    Detailed Information:

    This British Standard specifies the requirements for electric resistance welded steel tubes (ERW) used in mechanical and general engineering applications. BS 6323 Part V specifies the requirements for electrical resistance welded steel tubes. As the name suggests, this standard applies to tubes made of hot-rolled or cold-reduced steel, with circular, square, rectangular, or elliptical cross-sections.

    In order to manufacture ERW pipes, steel strips are formed into tubes and then the edges are welded with electric resistance welding. In this way, a strong joint is created without the need for additional welding materials, and ERW pipes are commonly used in structural and mechanical construction applications like building frames, bridges, and pipelines.

    A specific chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, tolerances, and testing requirements are specified for BS 6323 Part V ERW pipes. It is also important for these pipes to comply with the requirements of other British Standards for steel tubes, including BS EN 10255 and BS EN 10219.

    We bundle Tubes as standard with steel straps into hexagonal bundles with one end flush. Length sorting can be carried out on request. Tubes can also be bundled in multiples. Bundle weights are adjusted as requested by the customer. Each bundle contains tubes from a single cast/heat only.

    Each tube is marked with tube type, heat number, steel grade, and size. Information is repeated along the length of the tube. Bundles are also labelled with a tag with alphanumeric and barcode info. Other markings, such as stamping, can be made on request.

    Material delivered directly from our mill is marked by automotive standards, i.e., with both alphanumeric and barcode information. Specific data can be added according to the customer on request.
