A179 Tube is the standard specification for tubular heat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat transfer apparatus, which specifies minimum wall thickness and seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes. To manufacture the SA 179 tubes, a seamless process must be followed and cold drawn. An analysis must assess steel materials’ heat and product compositions to ensure they have the correct chemical designs of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur.

A seamless tube from ASTM SA 179 is available in many different types, such as seamless, cold brew, hot drew, etc. This tube has the same grades and standards as ASTM A179 and A179M.
